A Union Pacific

My friend Grahame (in the middle) used to be in a band called Godspeed Us To Sea who I have taken pictures of before however, they've split up and now he's start up a new band called A Union Pacific. We decided to take the pictures up at the docks at around 8pm to get the sun setting in the background. This photo is one of a few that i was really happy with from the shoot, so overall it went pretty well!
Had my wonderful assistant Montana Lowery helping me out who almost trod in dog poo on numerous occasions while  giving her bit to the cause. The band don't have a myspace or anything up yet, but as soon as they do I'll put up a link and you can check out there music!

Jonas

These are two pictures I took whilst I was in Frankfurt, Germany. Montana and I went over to visit a friend of mine and she happened to have a good looking boyfriend who I wanted to take pictures of. The only time I managed to photograph him though was an hour before we left to go to the airport for our flight home so nothing was really planned for it. I experimented with blur in my editing process to give a bit more life to the image, and I really like the results of this.

World Cup time

Its World Cup time and I'm bloody excited! This is another image taken by David Clerihew, which is something I'm going to look at having a try with combining a studio shot with an outdoor location. I like the way Gerrard is lit with the lights angled to different areas.
Just watched the Uruguay vs France match which was rubbish! Looking forward to England's opening game against the USA tomorrow. Lets go kick some yankee but!

I Am Forever

This was the second time I have shot this band now. The first time we did a studio shoot but now they are releasing their new EP 'The Tragic Tale of Jonny Pumpkinhead'.

The guys came down for the day and we shot on a few different locations. This was my favourite shot of the day. 4 guys down to their boxers getting changed in to suits hiding behind a peogeot 106 with passers by beeping their horns.

Theses are the dates of the gigs they've got lined up for the tour of their new EP so make sure you go and check them out.

Coventry FC

This was the first match day program of the 2009/2010 season with my photo on the front. When I got this through the post I was mega chuffed as I actually had the finished item in my hand. I was shitting a brick the night before the shoot because this was the biggest thing I had done at that point. I remember being told that the players were going to be coming in one by one, but then they all came in at once! I didn't have long with each, about 3 shots in total so I had to make sure everything was set up properly. Leon Best coming in with his shorts up past his waist got rid of any nerves I had. I shot the same style of photo of each of the players for the covers so that they were consistent through out and worked better as a collection.By doing this it then lead on to Montana and I taking the merchandise shots for the club which would be used on the online store and advertising. This was the first opportunity Montana and I had to work together even if it is just taking product shots! This is something we are going to be continuing on with during the 2010/2011 season. In fact we have taken pics for most of the products already which you can see up on the website. www.ccfcshop.co.uk/retailmain.aspx

Outburst!

We have a business called Outburst Photography. We formed it just over a year a go now but with us both being at Uni it was hard to push it so much. But now we have the summer off and it gives us a chance to get the Outburst name out there. It's good because both Montana and I share different interests when it comes down to taking photographs and what we take them of. I've learnt a lot from the way Montana works and this has enabled me to improve on my own photography also. The achievements we have done so far consisted of being photographers for Coventry FC, taking both shots for program covers and product advertising, which you can see on their website.

Also Montana shot for American Dream Hair Extensions and I turned to Stylist for the day which was all very stressful but I found it really fun being on a shoot like this and seeing Montana doing what she does best. I'm really lucky to be working with someone so talented and creative. Her work is pretty special and I can see her achieving great things, and the day when she photographs Vogues front cover can't be far off now!

Olympic Hopefuls - Uni Project

I decided for my final project at uni that I wanted to incorporate it with the upcoming London 2012 Olympics. Sport is something I enjoy anyway so to link this in with photography is pretty handy! I looked at a lot of photographers work throughout the project, with the main influence being David Clerihew in my final results.

These 2 images are apart of the campaign he did for Adidas, which is the same sort of results I wanted for my images. I like how he had lit his subject and the way he is angled slightly below them brings out a lot of power in the person. The first shoot I set up a backdrop in an old army camp room, for the second shoot I ended up doing it in a convent in London. And for the rest I went up to Loughborough and set up camp in the hotel room.
I'm pretty please with my final outcome, I think I'm finally getting there to my lighting style and how I want my images to be.I went in search of the rising stars that would be competing in the Olympics come 2012. To begin with I found it quite difficult, messaging every club for each sport and only getting a couple of responses if any! At one point I didn't think it was going to turn out how I wanted but eventually one said yes, then the rest began to follow. Here are 2 examples of how I used the influence of Clerihew within my work.

I took hundreds of shots with them in different positions, but for me the ones that worked best for the brief I had set myself of photographing Olympic Hopefuls worked best when they were looking away from the camera. This way it creates a somewhat vulnerability factor. I had 6 images in total for the final series which is aimed at being an advert for London 2012.
